1979 Y84 Special Edition Trans Am

1979 Trans Am Special Edition Y84 code, 77k original miles.

This car is a true Special Edition Trans Am in very good shape. It was owned by an old man that took very good care of it.

The car is all rust free, straight and in excellent. The car was repainted in the recent years , it still shines but is not perfect. All the decals are correct except little one on front bumper , also the gold pinstripes are in good shape with minor imperfection. There is no major things wrong with the exterior . All glass around is in great condition as well as all of the moldings .Weatherstripping is in pretty good shape with minor dryness only in a small section that is not worth replace right now. Keep in mind that is an old car, and of course have imperfections, but I can assure that looks great the way it sits right now, but hey all old cars have small imperfections to them, This car is meant to be driven and enjoyed and not a trailer queen.

Interior

Interior is there and complete and in outstanding shape as you can see in pics All interior plastic and trim is there and intact, . Rear tray package is new . This car does not have the original radio, but has a nice CD changer in the dash , but I can get an original radio, so it will be up to you if you want me to get it. The A/C is working ok . The trunk is in great shape, but does need a new trunk mat and a spare tire, and its rust free.

Engine

As said, is the original matching numbers engine (PWH) is there and intact and has not been rebuilt with original miles on it . there are no knocks, no rattles, only 2 or 3 drops of oil on my garage floor, all old engines leak a little , the engine compartment of this K code car 403 ci is very clean and you can show it at shows. Its hooked to the original auto tranny transmissions shifts with ease and has no problems. . When you open the hood its very clean, its evident that was extremely babied and taken care of. The engine compartment is in great shape.

Rims and tires

Car came with the famous wide 15 x 8 snowflake rims with the WS6 handling package. The rims are in pretty good shape as is with the original factory finish and gold spokes . The car does have the aftermarket centercaps on them and they are new. It has BF Goodrich Radial T/A tires that still have good tread . The handling of this car is excellent , and the looks of muscle car is just breathtaking .

Miscellaneous

Taillights are in good shape , no cracks, with very minor fading considering 25 years old . Car has new dual exhaust and is not loud and obnoxious, and the original dual chromed tail pipes. All the electric works perfect like headlights, marker lights, brake lights, etc... all in working order. The power windows go up and down smoothly, but the power locks door need to be greased, they do work with help . T tops have very light surface scratches which is normal, and it could be easily buffed with glass polish; and as you know all of them leak a little if you point at them with the hose it is normal and it happens with 99% of all TA's second generation, but , hey didn't you planned to drive it with the T tops off ? In a nutshell you will get one of only few 1979 Special Editions produced, this cars will be worth a fortune soon, remember that is a true Y84 Trans Am, just take a look at the build sheet. This is a solid true 1979 Special Edition Trans Am. You could drive the cart as is, if you want a stunning museum quality then you need to repaint it , but again we think you will have a very nice car to show off to your friends as is . If you purchase this car, I can give you an estimate for the amount of work that needs to be done to the car to make it a show car. We just sold another 1979 Special Edition Trans Am like this with the black interior that was in showroom condition for $26,500.
