1978 Martinique Blue Trans Am
![]() We are offering here a true Gem, a 1978 Pontiac Trans Am Blue Martinique special code engine W72 (highest HP available on that year ) with mere 23,000 original miles. This magnificent example of a true American icon has been kept in captivity most of its life, showing very little wear on its exterior perfectly aligned body and absolutely no wear on its perfect interior. I could write for hours about this car, but I am sure the photos will speak for themselves better than a thousand words. Among the interesting things, this is one owner car that kept the car with very good care. Car has a optional factory CB radio installed with the antenna installed in the trunk lid. There is no rust issues on the body and very normal surface rust underneath, visible only on front end parts. Car rides as a champ on its original POLYGLASS tires. Again this car was very well maintained and 100% original except for few professional touch ups to the paint, even the spare tire and canister are still intact in the perfect rust free trunk. Blue Martinique with black interior if one of the more desirable combos on any Trans Am and we are sure this one will only go up in value, especially being a W72 car with the WS6 handling package.
EXTERIOR:
The exterior of this car is in excellent condition . The paint and all of the decals are all original and in excellent shape. As you can see from the photos below, the reflection of this car is truly amazing. The underside, trunk and engine of this car looks as good as the exterior. This is a True show winner that shows how True Muscle cars are made. All of the body panels line up perfectly and they have no dents, dings of scratches anywhere on the exterior of this car, but there is one small nick on the hood. The original snowflake wheels are in great shape and are not curbed or nicked in any places. As you can see from the photos below, you will definitely have everyone looking your way when you cruise into town. Everyone will also be looking because you will have one of the biggest smiles on your face as well. I know I did when I was driving this car around down in Florida. The Martinique Blue Trans Am was the second most popular color but you never see any of them around because everyone wants to hold onto them because they are that beautiful. All of the exterior trim pieces like the chrome windshield moldings are in great shape. The nose emblem is in great shape and not faded and even has the original tires on it.
Interior:
The interior of the car is the custom black cloth interior. All of the interior is in great shape. The seats have no tears or fading to them. The carpet is still in good shape with no holes or rips. All of the panels on the interior are in nice shape and not dry rotted or cracking. The dash is in great shape with no cracks in it. The center console is also in great condition. Even the kick panels are still in great shape with no scratches. Take a look at the photos below to see what I mean. The original am/fm radio with CB is there and functioning. How many Trans Ams do you see out there with that option? The door panels are in great shape and the door handles are not broken like many Trans Ams. It even has the original speaker grilles on the rear deck. The black interior really sets off the exterior of this car. If this car had t-tops, you would not see this car for sale because I would have purchased it already.
Mechanical:
This Trans Am is equipped with the W72 Pontiac 400 and automatic transmission. The car starts with no problems at all and when the car is warm, you can stand outside the car and flip the key and it will start right up. The engine has respectable power for the W72 Pontiac 400. It has all of the original equipment like the carb, intake and exhaust. The car runs great with no problems of stalling and is great on acceleration. The engine also does not leak a drop of oil. The Transmission is also in original condition so it shifts smooth and compliments the acceleration of the engine well. The suspension and steering are all functioning like they should. The brakes are all in great functioning condition and you will have no problems brining this car to a stop. The windows go up and down smoothly.... which there aren't too many Trans Ams out there that you can say that about either. All of the gauges are in working condition like was mentioned before.
Misc:
The undercarriage of the car is in great shape. There is mainly surface rust on the exhaust system which about it. The suspension works great and rides you down the road with no problems. It has all the original equipment like power windows, AC, cruise, tilt, am/fm radio with CB, WS6 suspension.... well, just about every option available. In the trunk you will find the original jack and space saver spare tire along with the original trunk mat. The car has all of the original paperwork like owners manual, tire warranty information.
