1978 Martinique Blue Trans Am
Here is a 1978 Pontiac Trans Am with 36,000 Miles on it. It is the beautiful Martinique Blue with the light blue deluxe cloth interior. It has the Pontiac 400 engine (W72) with the 4-Speed Hurst Manual transmission. The Martinique Blue was the second most popular color sold in 1978 next to the Black Trans Am, but you never see any good ones for sale. It is because of the looks of this color.... no one wants to sell it. This Trans Am has the correct hood bird for 1978, not like most of the ones you see with the 1979 and later hood birds.  There has been some modifications done to the engine so this car has quite a bit of power to it.  See the description below for more detail.  This car also has header and true dual exhaust which gives the car an awesome sound when cruising down the strip.  Here are some descriptions of the following components:

Exterior:

The exterior of this car is in great shape. The car was repainted and all new decals placed on the car. The paint is in great condition with only a few minor flaws here and there.  There is no signs of rust starting at all on the exterior of the car. There are no dents and no door dings on any of the panels. All of the exterior trim pieces like the chrome windshield moldings are in great shape. The nose emblem is in great shape and not faded and there are newly refinished 15x8 Argent Snowflake rims on the car which really makes it stand out. It also has the correct Original GM centercaps and not the cheap aftermarket ones.  The tires are also in great shape and are brand new BF Goodrich Radial TA's.  All of the exterior weather stripping is also in great condition.  The headlight grilles and chrome is also in great shape.

Interior:

The interior of the car is the light blue deluxe cloth interior. All of the interior is in great shape. The seats have no tears or rips to them. The carpet is still in good shape with no holes, rips, or fading. All of the panels on the interior are in nice shape and not dry rotted or cracking. If you were going to make a show car, I would replace some of the trim pieces due to a few scratches here and there.  The dash is in great shape with no cracks in it and the dash bezel looks awesome too. The center console is also in great condition. Even the kick panels are still in great shape with no scratches. Take a look at the photos below to see what I mean. I have installed a few new interior trim pieces here and there to replace the parts that were worn.  The door panels are in great shape and the door handles are not broken like many Trans Ams.   Also another nice feature that you don't see to often.... The clock actually works !

Mechanical:

This Trans Am is equipped with the W72 Pontiac 400 and 4-Speed M21 Close Ratio transmission.  The engine has respectable power for a Pontiac 400. The engine has been rebuilt and I am guessing it putting out about 300-325hp.  I have full documentation and all of the spec sheets from the work that was done to the engine.  Just to name a few things.... it has Crane and MSD ignition, Barry Grant speed Demon 750 vacuum secondary, edelbrock performer intake, custom ground cam shaft, heads have been shaved .020”, high volume oil pump, aluminum water pump, electric fan, powermaster hi-torque mini starter, center force dual friction clutch and pressure plate, hooker full length headers, flowmaster true dual exhaust with cross-over. The car has headers and true dual exhaust and sounds awesome.  It has a nice roar to it when you start it up.  The car runs great with no problems of stalling and is great on acceleration. The engine also does not leak a drop of oil.  It was sitting in the same spot for almost two months while I worked on the interior and related and there wasn't' a drop of oil down there. The Transmission is also rebuilt so it shifts smooth and compliments the acceleration of the engine well. The suspension and steering are all brand new within the last two years and functioning like they should. In fact, when I drive down a straight highway, I can let go of the wheel and the car does not pull an inch in any direction. It stays straight on down the road. I was quite amazed when I did this for myself. The brakes are all in great functioning condition with new pads and rotors.

Misc:

The undercarriage of the car is in great shape. There is an aftermarket radio installed with infrared remote as well as rear speakers.  This Trans Am din not come with any power options.  So, it did not have power windows, power locks, tilt, A/C, cruise, etc.  I do have the Original build sheet plus all of the PHS documentation on the car.  This is a true 1978 Martinique Blue W72 4-Speed Trans Am.  If you want a Trans Am that looks great and is fast.. then this is the one.  See the photos below.
