1979 Trans Am
92,000 Original Miles
Sold
![]() This is a rare RED/RED 1979 Pontiac Trans Am that was ordered with most of the available options. It was a rust free car that has been recently restored during the past several years. A lot of time and money has been put into making this car look better than the day it came off the showroom floor. When you take a look at the photos before you will see that even Pontiac didn't put this much care into the car off the line. All the pictures you will see, will help you understand what I am talking about. I haven't seen dedication like this to the Pontiac Trans Am in the past 6 years of restoring cars. This car would be just as comfortable in the showroom as it would be on the open road. Not only will you turn heads on the street, but you will have all of the judges looking your way as well. You want to pull in trophies at the car show both local and National.... well, this is the car to do it in. I have seen alot of custom cars shine like this, but never a stock car look this good. Just to give you a brief description before I go into detail, this Trans Am has been completely detailed (Top to Bottom), 4 Wheel Disc Brakes & Refinished Original 15x8 Snowflakes Wheels, New Goodyear Eagle GT II Tires, $1500 in ceramic-coated exhaust (from manifolds to tips), $500 gold refinished dash bezel & $350 refinished gold/red Steering Wheel & Cap, New Converted Air Conditioning.
Exterior:
The paint on this vehicle was done completely within the last year and all new decals. This car started a rust free vehicle and continues to be an outstanding solid car. As you take a look at the photos you will see great care has been taken in restoring this car to it's natural glory. All of the body panels are solid and all of the body lines are in excellent alignment. The doors do not sag and close with the flick of a finger. The trunk and hood opens and closes with no problems. All of the exterior moldings and flares are in outstanding condition with no nicks, no rock chips, no spider-webbing, no dents, and no dings of any kind. Much of this car was dismantled during the painting process and great care was taken in making sure every panel and body part was done right and fit back together perfectly. All of the decals are in the correct location, not like many restoration places that put the decals back on carelessly. All of the exterior trim such as windshield moldings shine and fit just like the rest of the Exterior. Most people talk about the "Arrest me Red" paint, but on this car, the Officer will not even think of pulling you over because he will be too busy picking his jaw up from the floor of his cruiser. If he does pull you over it is because he is in amazement of this beautiful 1979 Pontiac Trans Am and wants to get a closer look at it. Talk about flashing back to 1979....this car will do it better than any other you will find. Take a trip back down Memory Lane and never look back.
Interior:
The vehicle's interior is in beautiful condition. The seats are the original hobnail cloth interior that is still in excellent condition for being 25 years old. The Owner put a red/gold steering wheel, and refinished gold dash bezel, and NOS gold shifter button on this car since the gold looked better and matched the factory original gold 15x8 snowflake wheels. All of the door panels and interior trim is in excellent to showroom condition. The panels are not faded or cracked or scratched and look like they did back in 1979. There have been quite a few new parts installed throughout the interior of this car. See the list below for a complete listing of what has been replaced. I have the factory build sheet available with the car, along with an extra set of red hobnail back seats. Along with the original steering wheel with the black spokes and red horn button. The clock on the dash and all the gauges work fine. New sending units used for oil and temp. The power window on the drivers and passenger doors work fine window works fine. It currently has an aftermarket radio in it, but the owner does have an original 79 radio with cassette that can go with the car. The air conditioning was recently hooked up and converted over to R134 so that is blows Cold! New Red GM Hobnail material and Red Lombardy material available to recover the seats with the purchase of this car. (Very Rare and Hard to Find) The original seats are in excellent shape, but didn't want to recover if someone plans on driving the car, they will be happy with the originals, but it is nice to have spares.
Engine and Mechanical:
This vehicle shifts out great and handles excellent, with one of the best sounding exhaust systems that make all my gear head friends envious ($1500+ in exhaust system). The numbers matching engine in this vehicle runs great. It is equipped with the L80 Olds 403 engine that still runs and accelerates smoothly with no lack of power. Again, look at the complete list below to see what has been done to the car. This car does not leak or burn any fluids whatsoever. The automatic transmission shifts smoothly and compliments this engine well. The custom exhaust systems greatly improves the power of the Trans Am. Not only does this engine run and sound awesome... take a look at the photos below to see one of the cleanest engines I have ever seen. This is definitely a turn key restoration with nothing needed by the new owner. This vehicle is sporting a set of brand new Goodyear Eagle GT II tires (255/60 R15), mounted on a set of professionally refinished original 15x8 snowflake wheels. The wheels where stripped, painted, machined, and powder coated clear, to get them back to their original better than factory shine. The clear coat will help them stay like this forever. This car is also equipped with all of the extra options like Power Steering, Power Brakes, Power Windows, Power Locks, Air Conditioning, Cruise Control, Rear Defogger, WS6 Handling package and more. It almost looks like they ran out of room on the build sheet with all of the options available on this car.
